My suggestion is that it would be helpful to see how long since someone was on the site not just 'its been a while'. How long ago is that? How long ago is 'recently' ?

Hey, I think a while ago is one month plus, so recently is everything between yesterday and four weeks ago.

This obfuscation was a deliberate design decision intended to minimize any semblance of ability to accurately track/stalk anyone, just as a precaution. We feel it still tends to be a good indicator of activity in the user base.
